Back in April 2021, after several months of preparation, finally the Uganda Refugee Employment Promotion Project – UREPP – was launched. While the courses for the first cohort had already started at all three project schools, the launch events coincided with the first visit of the coordinating team from bbw from Germany. Following addresses by the Commissioner BTVET of the Ugandan MInistry of Education and Sports, representatives of the schools, local authorities and refugee communities, bbw and the students.
The project was warmly received by all actors and praised as the right approach at the right time, especially given the Covid-19 pandemic. Offering chances and perspective to youths is crucial. At UREPP we seek to empower young people to pursue a new path in life. We look forward to a successful project period and bringing positive change to life of many young Ugandans and refugees.
